“Follow the Child”

Montessori in Spokane Public Schools celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2007. It was created by a committed group of parents. These parents began the board known as SCAMC, Spokane Community Advocates for a Montessori Curriculum. SCAMC, the main board which oversees the Montessori program at two schools in the district, has just changed its name to CoMP, Community of Montessori Parents. It is CoMP’s responsibility to maintain quality training, accreditation, and support to classrooms in order to maintain good standing within Spokane Public Schools. As public schools there is no tuition charge to parents. The schools are located at Jefferson on the South Hill and Balboa on the North Side.
